Latino Actuaries Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Organization of Latino Actuaries
Introduction
The Organization of Latino Actuaries (OLA) offers academic scholarships to students who plan to attend a U.S. college or university in the upcoming academic year and who are pursuing interest in the actuarial field. Applications are accepted annually from January 1 through March 31.
Who is eligible
Applicants must be planning to enroll at a U.S. college or university for the next school year and demonstrate an interest in an actuarial career.
How applications are reviewed and timing
Submissions are assessed using multiple factors, including academic achievement, demonstrated commitment to an actuarial career, progress on actuarial exams, relevant work experience, and leadership activities. Finalists for both the named and general awards are typically chosen by mid-June.
Scholarship types (funded by Gold and Platinum sponsors)
Thanks to support from our Gold and Platinum sponsors, OLA provides two scholarship tracks from a single application:
- General scholarships: Awards vary in amount. The highest-ranked recipient is awarded the OLA Cresta Scholarship, a $7,500 prize. (“Ola” means wave and “cresta” means the crest or top of the wave in Spanish.) General scholarship finalists usually are not required to interview, except that the Cresta Scholarship recipient might need to interview if they are also eligible for a Named Scholarship.
- Named scholarships: Winners of Named Scholarships who complete a 2026 summer internship with the sponsoring company will receive $5,000. Candidates who advance as finalists for Named Scholarships will be required to participate in an interview. In 2025, more than 20 companies are participating as Named Scholarship sponsors.
Payment
Scholarship awards are disbursed directly to the recipient’s educational institution.
