Pre-qualification — first step
The initial step to apply for the John W. Youtsey Memorial Scholarship is to pre-qualify. The pre-qualification form must be submitted by April 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Review the eligibility criteria below, then go to https://smr.to/p107920 to complete the pre-qualification. Applicants who meet the pre-qualification standards will receive the full application by email.
Eligibility requirements
To be considered for the John W. Youtsey Memorial Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) client diagnosed with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, or another inherited bleeding disorder.
- Live in the state of Georgia now and have been a Georgia resident for at least one year.
- Be currently enrolled in — or already accepted to — an accredited college, university, vocational, technical, or professional degree program.
- Agree to give back to the bleeding disorders community by volunteering at least 12 hours with Hemophilia of Georgia. (Note: serving one week at Camp Wannaklot satisfies the 12-hour volunteer requirement for this scholarship year.)

About John W. Youtsey
John W. Youtsey served as a professor and Associate Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Georgia State University and provided steadfast leadership to Hemophilia of Georgia from its founding in 1973 until his passing in 1996. He was a board member of Hemophilia of Georgia and chaired its Scholarship Committee.
Program impact
Since its inception, the John W. Youtsey Memorial Scholarship Program has granted more than 500 scholarships totaling in excess of $2,000,000.
